Vagina Surgery -Perineoplasty
We call Perineum, the visible area between the vagina and the rectum. This is the region where episiotomies are cut and where tears during childbirth are most common. Perineoplasty (or Perineorraphy) which is a vaginal surgery aims to make this region appear normal by removing excess skin, and suturing the underlying muscles closer together to give a more tight feeling in the introitus or vaginal opening. This procedure can be performed in the office under an outpatient setup. We use local anesthesia with some sedation or spinal anesthesia. It takes 30-45 minutes and you do not need to stay overnight. Patients can go back to their job even the next day. Sexual activity and gymnastic are suggested to be restarted 4 weeks later. The main goal of this procedure is to "Enhance Sexual Gratification." The procedure almost always accompanies Vaginoplasty (vagina surgery) since you are working in the same area.
